According to the Public Relations Department of Central Tehran branch, in the gathering of professors and Basij faculty members of Islamic Azad University of Central Tehran branch, Tehranchi referred to the concern of the Supreme Leader about the current culture of Islamic Azad University and said: “Culture should be reconstructed in Islamic Azad University, and this cannot be achieved unless our professors have an effective cultural presence in classrooms.”
Stressing that university is the place of science and science is holy, he said: “Students pay tuition to learn science and they must avoid any non-scientific and non-academic behavior. We make all our efforts to maintain the position and status of professors in Islamic Azad University in their true place.”
“The main subject is the ‘movement of science’, after which the national flow of knowledge should be generated. Around the world, first the national flow of knowledge begins, then it is shaped by papers, books, and even conferences. Subsequently, the common scientific language which is science transmission language is used in the field of sharing to disseminate knowledge globally,” said Tehranchi about the dissemination of knowledge.
Emphasizing that scientific works have scientific outcomes, he added: “We must scientifically identify the scientific communities of each field. Our scientific system is damaged and we need to solve this problem wisely.”
Tehranchi stressed that professors should present practical ideas and have an effective role for the promotion of science.
“Islamic Azad University has an essential difference with state universities in Iran. Government established a university 80 years ago in Iran. Until then, government did not deal with science, but knowledge was a public good and it was publicly supported. By the establishment of the University of Tehran, a state university was set up explicitly and, then Melli University was founded as a private university. This university became a state university after the coup in the year 1965 at Melli University,” said the head of Islamic Azad University of Tehran province in another part of his speech about the Islamic Azad University.
Stating that the Iranian scientific system has not grown in some fields, Tehranchi said: the government knows itself responsible for state universities and the regulator of private universities. As a result, our university management model has become defective.
This member of the board of trustees of the Islamic Azad University emphasized the student-centered education and its efficiency, stating that: “People expect the university to guarantee the social and economic future of their children. We need to train students in economic fields so that we can gain the maximum trust of people.”
“Formalism and tendency towards quantitativeness were the characteristics of universities in the late twentieth century. One of the features of universities in the late twentieth century was that science was made quantitative, in line with the goal of credentialism, and, in order to expand this goal in the world, it created within itself a hierarchy, that is, the concepts of instructor, assistant professor, associate professor and professor. These were the concepts we adapted from them. In this way, they developed formalism and quantitativeness in the entire global scientific community. We were also involved in this event as far as our current scientific status is due to their formalism behavior. Our scientific system has experienced this disease and pest, and unaware of real properties of science, instead of attention to solid scientific position, we have turned into credentialism,” stated the member of higher education in the country, in another part of his speech on the formation of the university and the adaptation of the university concepts from other countries
During the meeting, Tehranchi described the major goals of today's heads of Islamic Azad University as follows: “Efficiency, efficient management, efficient training, cost management and solving the existing problems, pursuing the provincial concept, making the scientific programs practical, behavioral discipline and institutionalization of Islamic culture in the Islamic Azad University.”
